Who is a candidate for lip lift surgery?

In some individuals, the distance between the upper lip and the base of the nose may be naturally long, while in others, this distance can elongate over time due to volume loss in the underlying bone structure and soft tissues. In these individuals, the visibility of the red part of the upper lip (vermilion) diminishes, resulting in an aged appearance. People who often find it difficult to apply lipstick frequently turn to lip fillers to increase lip prominence. While filler injections can indeed help enhance lip volume, the distance between the upper lip and the nose will still remain longer than normal. In this group of individuals, excess skin tissue can be removed through a discreet incision placed at the junction where the nose meets the upper lip, thereby shortening the philtrum and enhancing the prominence of the red upper lip.

I had a lip lift surgery, why didn't the outer corners of my mouth lift enough?

In a classic central lip lift surgery, primarily the central portion of the lip is elevated, while lifting at the outer corners of the mouth remains somewhat limited. To increase the prominence and elevation of the outer corners of the mouth, a corner lip lift procedure needs to be performed.

Are lip lift scars very noticeable?

The surgical incision is carefully placed within the natural crease at the junction of the base of the nose and the upper lip to minimize visibility. In addition to topical scar creams and silicone gel treatments started after surgery, I also utilize fractional laser treatments to further minimize the visibility of scars.

Is lip lift surgery performed under general anesthesia?

Thanks to regional numbing techniques, lip lift surgery can be comfortably performed under local anesthesia. After being observed at the clinic for about 30 minutes following the procedure, the patient can return home on the same day.
